Microlearning Certificate

Use snack-sized learning for employee development.

Microlearning—learning in short bursts that anyone can access anytime—is the next big thing in learning and development. In this hands-on, practical workshop, explore what microlearning is, why it’s hot now, and how to employ MILE, a microlearning design model, to create outstanding, bite-sized learning programs. The MILE model gives you a road map to create a program structure, gather resources using the three Cs (curate, create, and crowdsource), and implement, promote, and evaluate your programs.

The Mobile Learning Certificate runs from January 22–23, 2018. The workshop begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. each day.

Learning Objectives

After this program, you will be able to:

  • Incorporate the appropriate mobile learning opportunities into the organizational learning strategy.
  • Apply best practices and solid design principles to mobile learning development.
  • Identify the differences between mobile web and a mobile app and determine the best option for your content and organization.
  • Design maps, sketches, and wireframes for mobile learning.
  • Apply a comprehensive process for designing a mobile learning application.

This program is appropriate for any learning professional or trainer interested in learning how mobile learning is changing the training and development profession and how to leverage it for their own programs.

Facilitator

Carla Torgerson has more than 15 years of experience as an instructional designer and instructional strategist. She is a senior instructional designer and the owner of Torgerson Consulting, where she teaches workshops on topics such as designing e-learning, mobile learning, and microlearning. Carla also teaches workshops about e-learning and mobile learning for ATD. In past roles, Carla has consulted with numerous Fortune 500 clients, including McDonald's, Netflix, Facebook, Express, Fidelity, Cargill, Medtronic, Merck, and Best Western. She has designed solutions ranging from $15,000 to more than $2 million.

Carla has a master’s degree in education focused in technology-based education. She also has a master of business administration (MBA), which helps her to see training through a business lens. She has authored numerous blogs and articles, including a chapter in Michael Allen's 2012 e-Learning Annual.
